God did not create the universe, says Hawking

Why are these authors so determined to denounce God.
A society w/o God lacks hope..... a lack of hope lead a lack of values....
It is clearly evident, what happens when society...loses hope .... chaos and destruction ensues....
One also has to also consider that this is simply a theory.....It's Steven's & Leonard's idea/opinion...to which he's clearly entitled. Remember Plato wrote...when asked about God or the creator... It's written...some things are simply unexplainable.
So, the question we should be asking is whether proving God's "non-existence" is valuable to society?
And the answer is no_ Creating doubt purposely in someone's mind, does not enhance a person's life it simply stalls it and serves to create chaos of the mind.
**Those of us who are Christians, know that his worldly theory does not pertain to us.

Limbo Conservation - The American Apparel
12% unemployment is not the elephant in the room. Other issues include consummer confidence, banks failing to lend (probably because they took so much risk earlier, and now they are in limbo conservation), job insecurity, low demand for goods and or that consumers simply have everything they need within the household to make them content. Lets face it.... our goods are significantly cheaper due to foreign made goods...so everyone can afford to purchase items of competing brands for less prices. Basically, we have less big ticket items that people want_ Consider the Apple IPOD, IPAD etc.... all big ticket items and people wanted them....
In respect to consumer confidence....maybe ..just maybe consumers are materialed out_
They simply have enough stuff....so why buy more.
This is America...the land of R&D. Banks need to choose a side...NO MORE LIMBO.... Invest or perish!
When the government gave the bail out funds, they should have contractually made the bank agree to extend credit and invest a minimum amount back into get the economy...thus getting it moving again.
I am not sure but I think the Government needs to act somewhat like the credit card company..where the riskier you are then the more you have to pay back... Or maybe the government may want to setup levels of qualifying investments (Have companies that want to expand human capital or in R&D apply through a government screening process..the government then apply a risk number....and banks can bid on extending credit)- No longer than 30 days.

Wyclef & The New Haitian Legacy
It's indeed exceelent to see Wyclef running for president... I do believe that he comes with enough influence to hopefully move this country in the right direction. Haiti is an extremely rich resource country... except that those living there may not know how to capitalize on its wealth. Maybe Wyclef can change the image...
If you want to see the difference between two worlds...journey to the other half of the same island....
Bravo Wyclef...let me know when the country is ready for a specialized school....

Eat, Pray, Love is a journey through selfishness....It's not enlightenment!
Reading Clinton's book "Giving" first, and Gladwell's "Blink" second, would have satisfied Gilbert's hunger for something else other than herself.
Eat, Pray, Love is a journey through selfishness....It's not enlightenment!
It hit me like a bolt of lightening shooting down from the sky... I hate my job!
Soooooo, I did what any normally gifted person would do during a recession. I quit!
Hum?
On my way to Target to purchase a new cordless telephone... Why?
The battery cost almost as much as the phone itself.
So, I drive all the way from downtown to baldwin heights..just to get to a target...
I chose one, from there massive collection of phones...then naturally wonder into the music and books isles. I brought the following books:
1. Eat, Pray, Love - Gilbert
2. Blink - Gladwell
3. Giving - Clinton
And I read them in the same order.
Eat, Pray, Love began amazingly wonderful....I found myself drawn into the story like my sister to a Pillsbury Sweetbun...The encounter in the 1st few pages with italian text interwoven...was so sweet_ Amazing! I was even speaking Italian!....Hell, it made me wanta learn any new language just soooooooo, I tooooooooooooooooooooooo may experience the 1st encounter...
.........And then her story begins.
I must admit that I was quite irritated by groceries; as she is later called.
My gosh, I found myself thinking; have I ever acted sooooooo pathetic and nauseating..even to myself. So, there I was calling up friends and asking them if I have ever put forth such a display.... And Thank God, the answer was emphatically no!
I remember studying psychology in college and learning about the ID, ego and superego... And I found myself wondering, how I would it feel to simply give into my id? Imagine giving into my raw needs, desires, wants and without boundaries_ Hum?
We've all have asked ourselves the lotto question_ What would I do if I won? A long list of "I gonna buy", came to mind...But nowhere, on my list was finding myself, God, or love??????
I figure, if I am here...then myself is with me, and since I already understand that God made us in his own image then ..naturally, God is within us... So, if I know God, and myself are in fact in the same place...... then naturally I must love myself... So, for what would I search?
My point!
Travel is great, peace of mind is great, eating is great, praying is great, and love is great.... But if you have to break your bank or someone else...to do these things... then my suggestion is to check into a local Motel..open the drawer and take out the bible. Feast, pray and love the words ...and there you'll find that love for yourself through God!
Another thought....Liz went on Vacation for 1 year... three different cultures.... Awesome!
A change in environment ..will enlighten anyone..and w/o scrubbing the floors!

Solo travels...only for the Brave!
My Solar Cup students and I have been tracking the mighty travels of Abby...the solo 16.
Word came yesterday, that she was MIA...
Not good!
Today...she has been found!
The good blessings....from the students have been answered...
Yea!

How did I get here?
I grew up in New York City, and had the great opportunity to learn in the classroom and from the truly ethnically diverse communities with composites ranging from every point of the globe. In fact, just walking around and stopping for a slice of pizza is an opportunity to exchange information through dialog or just become privy to the many languages that add to the diversity of the city. Living on such a small island beckons tolerance in people, and lends the opportunity for cross-cultural growth. My experience in New York affords me tolerance beyond the scope of many. I celebrate the diversity of people, and revel in the art of what makes New York, New York. I simply love the faces that speckle the landscape. Ethnicities from far and wide, yet on certain days, far and wide become closer.
My parents and I are Caribbean immigrants, my dad is Cuban and my mom is Jamaican. I am one of 12 children from two marriages. I am a middle child from the second marriage.
I grew up in the projects but never aspired to stay. My parents worked incredibly hard to support and instill in us that our current situation is just that; a situation, and if you want change you will need to move.
Move I did, after attending Pace University in the financial District in NY. I have lived in states all along the east coast, from Boston to Miami and have island hopped in the Netherlands Antilles and all through the Caribbean Island including Cuba, photographing and teaching lessons dealing with American Culture, Government, and Science. Summers have been great.
Now, I have been living in Los Angeles, Ca for the pass 12. Los Angeles sports similar demographics to New York, so I am quite comfortable with my surroundings. I have an earned Masters in Cross-Cultural Education and Business Administration. I have worked for High Schools in Long Beach, and I am currently working at Compton High School. Both districts are large but differ socio-economically and in the parental support offered to students. Regardless, I have found that students who are wealthy or poor share the same situation. Most of them want change and it’s my hope to help them properly prepare to move.
